Connect BrandAxis to Claude, ChatGPT & Cursor (MCP)

Add the BrandAxis MCP server to your AI assistant and ask about your AI visibility in plain English. Setup steps for Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor.

The BrandAxis MCP server lets your AI assistant read your BrandAxis data. Ask “How did we do on Perplexity this month?” or “Which sites cite our competitors but not us?” and the assistant pulls the answer from your workspaces.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants connect to outside tools. You add one address and sign in with your BrandAxis account. You don’t need a key or any code.

Who can use it

It’s included on the Starter, Pro, Advanced and Enterprise plans and on pay-as-you-go trackers, but not on Free or Lite. The assistant sees what you can see in BrandAxis, and nothing more.

Claude (web or desktop)

  1. Go to Customize → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name: BrandAxis
    • URL: https://app.brandaxis.ai/api/mcp
  3. If Claude asks how to sign in, choose Sign in now. For the OAuth client, choose Register automatically.
  4. Choose Add, then sign in with your BrandAxis account and allow access.
  5. In a chat, open + → Connectors and check that BrandAxis is on.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name: BrandAxis
    • Server URL: https://app.brandaxis.ai/api/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  3. Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  4. Install the plugin and sign in with your BrandAxis account when asked.
  5. In a chat, type @ and choose BrandAxis.

Custom MCP servers aren’t available on ChatGPT’s Free plan. On a work account, your workspace admin may need to allow them first.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp login brandaxis

The second command opens your browser so you can sign in with your BrandAxis account.

Cursor

  1. Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

  2. In Cursor’s sidebar, open Customize, find brandaxis and sign in with your BrandAxis account.

Other MCP clients

Any assistant that supports remote MCP servers can connect. Give it:

  • URL: https://app.brandaxis.ai/api/mcp
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Authentication: OAuth: sign in with your BrandAxis account when prompted

Ready-made questions

The server includes four built-in prompts. Your assistant may list them in its prompt or slash menu:

  • How your brand is doing
  • Where a competitor beats you
  • Which sites to get onto
  • What the answers say about you

Or just ask in your own words:

  • “Compare our visibility on ChatGPT and Perplexity over the last 30 days.”
  • “Which prompts do we rank worst on, and who wins them?”
  • “List the sites cited most often that never mention us.”
  • “Show me answers this week where sentiment towards us was negative.”

Good to know

  • Read-only. The assistant can read your data but can’t change prompts, brands or workspaces.
  • Same numbers as the dashboard. Each MCP tool is a BrandAxis API endpoint, so the figures match.
  • Rate limit. Each tool call counts as one API request against your plan’s per-minute limit. Listing the tools doesn’t count. If you hit the limit, wait a minute and ask again.
  • Not working? Check that you’re on Starter or above (or pay-as-you-go trackers), that you signed in with the BrandAxis account that owns the workspace, and that the connector is switched on for the chat.
